Have you ever been in control of your dreams?
Most of us in our lifetime will experience lucid dreaming. It’s that wild sensation where we cross the bridge between passive engagement to actively controlling the experience.
Scientists have been studying lucid dreams for years. One of their discoveries is that you can actually train your mind to enter into lucid dreaming.
Here’s how to do it in four simple steps.
1. Pinch yourself. Constantly question whether you are dreaming or not. If you are always doing this while awake, you will start doing it in your dreams as well.
2. Look at yourself in the mirror and find a piece of text to read. When we are in dreams, it is hard to see ourselves. It is also difficult to read something. If it becomes a habit, you will carry this with you into your dream state. This will help you distinguish if you are dreaming or not.
3. Get a dream journal. Keeping the practice of writing down dreams will make you more aware of when you are dreaming.
4. Fantasize. Before going to bed concentrate on what you want to dream about. This is called “incubating” an idea. And it works.
When you become aware that you are dreaming, while you are dreaming, you will find that you just might get into a situation where you can control what happens next.
