It appears that Anne of Green Gables and chuckwagon races have won out over kayaking, whale watching and Vancouver’s 125th anniversary.
The initial itinerary has been announced for William and Kate‘s official Royal Tour of Canada and, yes, we are sad to inform that the West Coast is not in the newlyweds’ plans.
Neither Victoria nor Vancouver is on the official list of cities that the royal couple will be visiting.
William and Kate will start their tour in Ottawa on June 30th. They will then make stops in Montreal, Quebec City, Charlottetown, Summerside, Yellowknife and finish their whirlwind tour in Calgary, on July 8th. Their final day coincides with the opening of Calgary’s ‘legendary’ Stampede.
British Columbians will either have to make the trip out east to catch a glimpse of the royal couple or be happy with the knowledge that when William is crowned King, he will definitely be obligated to visit Canada again.
We’re sure the choice of cities was made diplomatically, but it still seems a little bizarre that the couple chose not to visit Canada’s most beautiful province.
Oh well…
