The Royal Canopy

What regal bed will Prince William take his new wife home to on Friday night? Will it have a grand canopy? Will it be embroidered with lace and gold leaf? Will it be elevated off the ground? Or will it be a simple structure, with simple linens and a modest, but practical King size mattress?

What it won’t be is uncomfortable.

It will be nothing like the Prince’s gap year when he spent two weeks with the Welsh Guard in the jungles of Belize. During this time abroad, the Prince slept in a hammock, suspended between trees, wearing combat fatigues and military issue boots. There were no 1500 thread count Egyptian sheets and the canopy was constructed of broadleaf rainforest and mangrove branches instead of vaulted pillars.

No, on April 29th, the young prince will take his new wife back to a bed built for a princess. Ironically, it will probably be made of the same materials found in the beds on our showroom floor.
