One of our resolutions this year was to check out more of the Victoria culinary scene. But where do you start? Is it a geographical undertaking? Do you start in your local neighbourhood and move outwards?
To prevent the odd miss, Mattress Choice would like to share a few of our favourite spots to dine out with our fellow bed-lovers.
So in no particular order, here they are:
Kim’s Vietnamese Restaurant
-With a homely decor, Kim’s is a welcoming spot for unique asian cuisine. Both vegetarians and seafood lovers will enjoy the many mouthwatering dishes offered up by the kitchen. Prices are reasonable, with entrĂ©es running between ten and fifteen dollars.
Ulla
-Located at the base of Chinatown, Ulla uses “local ingredients, classic flavours and modern techniques” to create simple, yet inspired cuisine. The menu is limited, but changes frequently. The space is airy, with large arched windows, high ceilings and simple furniture. The oil paintings on display are the work of Charles Forsberg.
Brasserie L’Ecole
-When the occasion calls for something truly remarkable, book a table at the Brasserie L’Ecole; you won’t be disappointed. Voted #1 by Eat Magazine for Best Food and Overall Dining Experience, Brassiere L’Ecole is one of the finest restaurants currently operating in Victoria. Sean Brennan, the chef and owner of the establishment, creates classic French dishes with local seasonal ingredients. For a truly French offering, try the terrine, a forcemeat loaf.
